Broke down for the 1st time today...........Engine started rev flat out, bouncing off of the rev limiter whilst i was giving it some steam. Had to kill the ignition, then coasted to a halt . Thought that the throttle had become disconnected and had stayed fully open, but after popping the hood, found that one of my air filter socks on the carbs had a big round hole in the middle. Yep, it had been sucked into the carb. Fortunately, i wasn't too far from my parents house and my dad came out with a pair of pliers to fish it back out. She fired back ok and i drove back home.  Good old dad. Thats what i call a good breakdown service.............

That ' an interesting story. sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

Yep, very lucky. Just glad it didn't get into the head.

You were lucky with that Grant.  If that had of got in the head and jammed a valve could have been much worse.

 

Get a sausage filter instead of socks.
