The East Anglian kit Car Club

Cars on the Green 2010

Thanks to all of you that attended today. Unfortunately a lot of those that had intended to attend were unable to due to a few different reasons.

These included: A blown engine, destroyed gearbox, an ignition problem, No oil pressure, a family members accident, a stuck carburettor float, A major oil leak and a belt tensioner pulley failure.

Also another one of our members that was due to attend the show on another stand had his propshaft disintegrate.

We went from 28 members attending down to 20 on the day.

As Last year we as a club picked up third place in the category of best club stand. It would be nice to display our cars somehow a bit different and hopefully be awarded the 1st place in this category.

Nine cars left Thetford at 08.10 these cars included a Luego, a GTS, 4 Robin Hoods, a Mini Marcos and a NG TC.

We arrived at Bury St Edmunds Tesco to join some others already there and were soon joined by others, Most that were unable to attend had let me know via e-mail or mobile (and a big thank you to you that did) but two had failed to let me know so we were waiting for them for about 15 minutes and then left for the show. This was not entirely there fault one of them broken down three miles from Bury.

Mark Glasswell who lives in Thurston got the job of leading us to the show and a great job he did of it to.

After arriving at the show we were allocated our pitch and we set up camp raising the gazebo and club banner. It was a good job we did erect the gazebo because it wasn’t long before it started to rain. This was a bit on and off all day with some nice sunshine in-between showers.

As the day passed by we were joined by Steven Lister (Slyva Fury), as arranged.

And Mike Shearing in his tin top (One of the casualties of the day) we were also visited during the day by some other members of the club namely Dave Hawes, Robert Burton, Christen Hassler & John Schofield.

As last year there were a lot of very nice cars at the show.

We as a club could have had a better day but all in all not a bad day.

Hopefully next year will give us better weather and fewer problems for our members and their cars.

Picture of the day can be found in the galleries section.

Cars on the green 2009

Thanks to all of you that attended today, I’m sure you enjoyed yourselves as did. Those of you that didn’t attend missed out on a great day out.

We as a club picked up third place in the category of best club stand.

Andy Petrie also picked up the second place award for one of the best car categories.

Five cars left Thetford at 08.20 these cars included a Luego, GTS, Robin Hood, Mini Marcos and a Mk1 Capri.

We arrived at Vintens to Meet Mike and Lorraine.

As the time went by we were joined by a further seven cars of various makes and models.

We left Vintens at 09.20 deciding that all that were coming must be there by now.

Steve Keay did a great job of leading us all to the event at Thurston. He even managed to keep all thirteen cars together all of the nine miles or so. Thanks Steve.

After arriving at the show we raised the flag as it were and settled down for the day.

As the day passed by we were joined by Steven Lister (Slyva Fury) and his friend in a TVR, Gaz & Rachael in a MX5, and Dave & Lorraine in a Tiger Avon.

Later in the day we meet Mark a Westfield owner who promptly went and drove his car to join our party.

Also there was a Pilgrim 3000 owner that took an interest in the club.

There was also a really nice V8 rover powered buggy at the show. The driver has been approached by Andy in the past, and by me today to try and get him to bring the beast to Diss. He says he will when the weather is in his favour.

Nearly forgot Happy birthday Mike and a big thank you for the cake well cooked by Micheala.

It was great to finally meet Paul Gooderham (907 on Locost builders)

Roll on next year.
